Our Beliefs

The Bible is God’s Revelation of Himself to us.

Written by human authors who were chosen, inspired, and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Bible is the sole authority for our faith, doctrine, and practice. It is the truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:14-17, 2 Peter 1:20, 21, Jeremiah 1:9, Proverbs 30:5)

God is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe.

There is one God who exists eternally. He reveals Himself to us in three equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22, Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 90:2)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Jesus is eternal and fully God. He was the agent of creation. In the fullness of time, Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days demonstrating His victory and power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to Earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Holy Spirit is Eternal God, present and at work in the world today.

The Holy Spirit is eternal and fully God. His work includes comforting, guiding, convicting, and teaching. He indwells every Christian from the moment of salvation as the seal of their salvation. Our effectiveness in God’s kingdom work depends on submitting to His leadership and serving in His power. (John 14:16-17, 26, 16:7-13, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Ephesians 1:13, Romans 8:9)

People are made by God for God.

We are the crown of God’s creative activity, made in perfection and commissioned as stewards of God’s creation, having the free will to choose right or wrong. Mankind fell from this condition by choosing sin. Every succeeding human has inherited this fallen nature and has made the same choice after reaching the age of accountability. Our sin separates us from God so that we are in need of redemption. Every person will exist eternally, either in the glory of heaven or the eternal death of hell. (Genesis 1:26-27, Colossians 1:16, Psalm 8:3-6, Romans 3:23, Hebrews 9:27, Matthew 10:28, 2 Corinthians 5:6-8)

Sin is the common problem of all people.

Satan is a real, created being who rebelled against God before the creation of Earth. He and his spiritual kingdom are at work to lead people away from God. All people who reach the age of knowing right from wrong have chosen to do wrong and are sinners. The problems of society can only be solved by being freed from sin through faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to Him. Without forgiveness, sin results in eternal, spiritual death in hell, a literal place of punishment. (Genesis 3:1-7, John 8:44, Romans 3:10, 23, Romans 6:23, Isaiah 59:1-12)

Salvation is God’s free gift to us.

Salvation is an act of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus accepted the penalty of sin upon Himself through His sacrificial death on the cross. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ can we be forgiven of our sin and saved from sin’s penalty. When we repent (turn) from our rebellious direction and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ by faith and is guaranteed by God. (Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9, Mark 10:45, 1 Peter 3:18, John 5:24, 10:10, 27-30)

The Church is the Body of Christ.

Jesus is the head of the church. All Christians are called to serve within that body in a special way according to God’s choosing. The Holy Spirit empowers every believer with spiritual gifts according to His purposes and in His timing so that each believer can contribute to the building up of His kingdom. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:20-21, 4:11-13)

Evangelism is the responsibility of every church and every believer.

We are commissioned by God to make disciples as we go. Every church should be a command center for local and global missions. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Ezekiel 33:8-9)
