Dick Test Article

I have decided that we can watch a movie at the theatre faster than we can watch that same movie at home. I think it has something to do with the fact that the theatre decides to begin a movie at a certain time and will not stop until the movie is finished. We, on the other hand, having the freedom to start and stop the movie as often as we like, can stretch a ninety minute film into a two hour epic. Our movies are interspersed with various pauses: checking the refrigerator for snacks, responding to text messages, short conversations about the messages received, answering phone calls, and rewinding the video to hear the part that we missed because the phone was ringing. Still, even with the delays, I’d rather be the one in control. That way, I won’t miss anything if I go out for pizza.

Real life is not like that. There is no pause button on my wristwatch. God, on the other hand is not under the same constraints. In dimensions of time that we cannot conceive (A day is as a thousand years) He is above and beyond the steady progression of time as we know it. In God’s eternity, a second is comprised of vast eons, and millennia can pass in an instant. That’s why, when we seek Him, He is always there to be found. He is never busy somewhere else. He doesn’t ignore you to deal with obligations elsewhere—running the universe, dealing with major catastrophes, and hearing the prayers of countless others. In each eternal moment, you have His undivided attention. You are not just one small item on His agenda. As far as you and God and eternity are concerned, He has set aside the entire day, every day, just to be with you. If you want to spend some time with God, just ask. He has all the time in the world. Literally.
